about

In 8 CE, Ovid, the Roman Empire’s most famous poet, was banished by the emperor Augustus to the desolate city of Tomis on the Black Sea, where he would live out his remaining years.

Referencing a collection of poems written by Ovid during his exile, Letters from the Black Sea explores the languid effects of time spent alone - moving forward, with steady impulse, yet becoming lost within each of the three movements, with few marked changes helping to define one moment to the next.
